Friday night without Cap'n Pete was not Friday night as I listened to him over the years. When he was away, although his replacements did good jobs, it was not the same Blues Cruise. Now the Blues Cruise has docked and allowed Cap'n to disembark onto Bluesland's shore where he will never grow old and the Blues will play forever. Enjoy Cap'n. You've earned the rest.

Just want to say how saddened and angry I was when I found out someone had murdered Capn Pete.It is so uncalled for.Friday nights will never be the same.I usually listen to Cap'n Pete on Friday nights and loved hearing his voice and the stories he told.We will miss you.My heart goes out to everyone at the station who knew him so well.

As I stare at the empty chair where you used to sit and spin those colors of blues, I can only say that I will miss your hugs.

I remember one time at Blues on the Bluff I was playing with Reba Russell and the Cap'n said he liked my playing. That meant so much to me, because to me he was the real deal. I don't know if he played or sang, but here was an old dude who still rocked the old blues and dug it, and was a nice guy. He taught me a lot about music and life. His show was so good. I always dug the pace, and of course, the stories. Keep doin what you're doin.

I will always remember hearing Cap'n Pete during a radio pledge break once when he was talking about the first time he found WEVL on the dial..."and I said to myself...what is I been missin." It was so cute and sincere...I am so terribly sorry to hear the sad news of his death.

I first met Capn Pete in the early 80's & was heartbroke when I heard of his death,he always had a smile & a good word to say. He was a great supporter & historian of the music & will be greatly missed.

Dee Atlas Henderson a/k/a Captain Pete is my Dad. I do not understand what has happened, but I have never known any man that has been such a perfect father to his children as my Dad has been to me and my siblings. I will forever love, respect and honor my Dad. We, the Henderson family appreciate WEVL for all that has been done to honor our father in the way it has. Thank you all for your prayers and your consolating words during this time of great lost. My wife Martha and I will miss our Dad beyond any words that can be spoken....

During my time with WEVL, Cap'n Pete was one of my favorite radio hosts. He will be greatly missed. Death is never welcomed; my prayers are with his family.
