My thoughts and prayers to Dee's family (and WEVL family) in this difficult time. I will truly miss hearing his brand of stone cold blues.

He loved the music, and his enthusiasm spread to all that would listen. He will be missed, a piece of Memphis music legacy that will never be forgotten.

I miss him him. He always smiled and had a great sense of humor. I remember having a long conversation about Led Zeppelin of all things with him. I also herd lots aof great old blues on his show. I am deepply sorry for the loss of him.

I loved Cap'n Pete's show and loved listening to his stories. He was a sweet spirited gentleman. I was at the station not long ago when some of his children came up to the station, including one son he had not seen in a while. The reunion seemed so sweet and it was obvious they loved their Daddy and he loved them dearly. A loss for the world and a gain for Heaven.

I've listened to Cap'N Pete for years.
He loved what he was doing at the WEVL studio as
much as I enjoyed listening to the BLUES and the
history of the BLUESMEN that he brought to the
studio. You will be missed.

Cap'n Pete touched so many lives in so many ways. What a great legacy to forever be remembered through the music and stories he brought to us. I think all of us at in the WEVL family loved him, and thank God so many of of were able to have told him such and had him in our lives for so many years. Dee- I hope the wings of an angel keep you warm at night, and that you had the coolest of shades to wear as you entered into the light. See you on the other side.

I left Memphis for Colorado 19 years ago. I taped Captn Pete's show right before I left. I wore that tape out over the years. I learned to love the Blues from listening to that tape and I heard the Rev Gary Davis for the first time on the Captain's show. His song "How happy I am" helped me find my way back to God. Thank you Cap'n and dear God don't forget that Captain Pete brought me back to you, give him the peace and love he so richly desires.

Dee was one of those rare people whose love of the Blues was apparent to anyone who heard his show. He was also one of the finest human beings i ever met. I was honored to call him a friend, and will miss him like a member of my own family (and, in a way, he was). His kind and joyful manner brightened everyone around him, and also had one of the Great Laughs on the planet - - deep, natural, and from the heart. I love him like a brother and will miss him deeply
